SO I've spent 4 or 5 days, 3-4 hours each at the Hawk Watch at Washington Monument State Park on South Mountain in Boonsboro MD.  It's nice to have a good hawk watch only 20 minutes from home.   It's a quick drive up the mountain and a short walk along the Appalachian Trail where we climb the monument and start watching the skies for the hawks.  Today we had while I was there (4hrs) 19 Broadwings, 4 sharpies, 1 Merlin, 2 Osprey, and 3 Bald Eagle, plus several red-tails that arent moving south.  It was real slow but a nice day.  One thing of note compared to NY...we dont count vultures, they stay all year and theres no way of knowing what is a migrant, but 2 days ago I counted 17 Black Vultures at one time!
